The Gifts of Myrrh

The Gifts of Myrrh

Myrrh is an aromatic gum resin obtained from several trees and shrubs
of the genus Commiphora of India, Arabia, and eastern Africa. Myrrh is
also called the Balm of Gilead.

Myrrh is truly an ancient healing resin and a widely used herb in India. It
dates back as far as recorded history and is still used today. It is a
rejuvenating herb that is sure to work wonders on your cold and
congested nasal passages while helping improve the clarity of your skin.

Myrrh was a highly sought after gift and trade item in ancient times such
as during the time of Jesus Christ. It was used as a perfume, insect
repellant, and an embalming solution. During these times, it was also
widely used as a solution for wounds, gum and tooth decay, and
digestive disorders.

These days, myrrh is used to treat and relieve common respiratory
symptoms of asthma, cough and sore throat. It is also used to treat boils
and a great topical antiseptic.

Myrrh is not indicated for use of pregnant women. Large doses may
also have a laxative effect.
